Overseal 50th Parade and Gala thanks

The Donisthorpe Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps started to play and march. The fantastically bright and ingenious floats left the service road followed by a military tank, after months maybe years of planning, red tape, tears more red tape, wailing and gnashing of teeth The 50th consecutive Overseal Gala and Parade commenced.

The sun shone on a day that was more successful in many ways than the committee had dared to hope for. A massive thank you to the village from the Gala Committee for all their support leading up to and on the day. The field was crowded and the entire arena events were a great success.

The first Scarecrow competition was a resounding triumph and looks set to become a feature of future Galas.

The committee is though in danger of becoming a victim of its own success and desperately needs more help, particularly on the day; you don’t have to become a committee member but would be made very welcome if you did.

The committee is now lying in darken rooms until the next committee meeting on the 7th September when the annual Bonfire and Firework display will be top of the agenda.
If you missed the Fire Engine, unfortunately as part of cost saving economies they are not able to attend local events such as ours at the moment.

Forthcoming Events

Saturday 18th September: 1940’s night

Sunday 7th November: Bonfire and Firework display plus make a Guy competition; for more information on both these events contact Annette on 01283 763830
